我们唯独因着耶稣基督的血称义，除此之外，别无他法。我们的好行为不足以达到神的圣洁标准，在天上充其量只能算作无用。在这节经文中，雅各说好行为是从智慧和理解中涌现出来的。你看，我们活出"善良生命"和"善行"不是为了获得义或圣洁（基督已经为我们确保了这一切）；相反，我们活出"善良生命"和"善行"是因为智慧之灵在我们里面运行。智慧人会"活得良善"，因为行善或遵循基督爱人的诫命会荣耀神，从而在灵里和实际上都使我们受益。
真正的智慧就是除了耶稣基督以外不信任任何事物和任何人；祂是那位为你舍命的那一位。 那么谁是智慧人呢？是那个愤怒地起诉同胞基督徒的人吗？是那个欺骗、偷盗、说谎的人吗？不！这些都是不信任主之良善的表现，绝对是无知而非智慧的标志！愚昧人倚靠血气之臂（耶利米书 17:5），这就是为什么他们总是活在恐惧和疑惑中。智慧人最终会爱人，因为真正的智慧人无所畏惧，他们已经把信心放在了耶稣基督里！
倚靠耶和华的人有福了！（耶利米书 17:7，诗篇 84:12，诗篇 40:4，诗篇 34:8）
