The LORD is Our Shield

“You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.” -Psalm 119:114
The LORD is our shield. This is a proclamation of God’s protecting love over us, the very same protection Abraham (who then was Abram) had after God told him: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your
shield
, your very great reward” (Psalm 15:1). And what did Abraham get out of this promise? To cut a long story short, Abraham in the story of Genesis was virtually ‘untouchable’ by evil; him and his family. This is the same Word that is being given to us this day that the LORD is our shield. This revelation activates all the other verses of protection. My personal favorites are:
“From six calamities he will rescue you;in seven no harm will touch you” (Job 5:19)
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent. Psalm 91:10
no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. Isaiah 54:17 These Word of God’s protection appears all over The Bible. He is our shield and that is a certainty in the year of 2011. It is a certainty because Jesus Christ has already saved us from the curses of the world and the sure sign of this is His resurrection. So when times come that our faith is challenged and we begin to question or doubt God’s promises, read His Word because it is our only real source of hope! (Psalm 119:114) Read more and more of God’s Word and know His faithful promises through Christ Jesus, the true Word of God! (John 1) He is our shield, He is our hope and He is our Salvation! A Blessed 2011 to Everyone in the name of Jesus Christ!
