The Father's Love

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;”
Fathers were created by God in order for man to have a picture of God’s love for them. In this verse, the compassion or the love of the LORD is compared to the love that a father has to his children. In the context of the Bible, we are not talking about a drunk and deadbeat dad who abuses his children. We let the Bible interpret the Bible.
When we talk about the love of a father, we bring to the picture the story of The Prodigal Son. Just how much did the father love the son? The son did nothing but reject, insult, and hurt the father. But the father never had hate, never had bitterness, and he never had any feelings of vindication. When the son selfishly returned home, the father had nothing but compassion for the son (Luke 15:11). The father then used the opportunity to shower the son with love and to restore him back to his former status – unconditionally. That is how much our Father in heaven loves us! He has no hate, no bitterness, no vengeance, and no disappointment in His heart! Turn to Him and He will run to you with open arms to restore you and to love you - unconditionally!
Read the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) again and again, and see how much our Father in heaven loves you!
