Blessed to be a Blessing

Set your affections on things above, not on things on earth. -Colossians 3:2
If you design your life to be contented by receiving from people going down to you, then you have been missing great opportunities to be flying up high to where you really belong.

The person who just sits and waits for blessings to come has become so accustomed to people stooping down to their level that they mistakenly believe that this is to their advantage; that this is the abundant life the Jesus gave to us. I have encountered this young man who is overly dependent on his parents for virtually everything. He constantly praises The Lord for his comfortable lifestyle but what he is not aware of is that The Lord has greater plans for him than just enjoying the blessings from his parents.
We are meant to be more than receivers within God's Kingdom.
The Bible states that the Giver is greater than the receiver (Acts 20:35) and The Bible is saying that God designed our lives in such a way that we will end up to be the Blesser and not just the blessed. God wants us to be the head and not the tail, the lender and not the borrower (Deuteronomy 28).
Many people who are stuck in the cycle of receiving may call themselves blessed, for truly they are blessed but this is not the end of their story. There is a higher blessing out there, a life way above the life of dependency; and it is the life of the "things above", which is being a blessing to others. It is time to break the cycle and to stand up by yourself and become a blessing to others to the glory of The Lord Jesus Christ.
