Help God or Help, God?

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
God’s power and favour cannot operate on people who don’t think they need it. They always believe in the saying: “Do your best and let God do the rest”, which is completely anti-Biblical. Personally, I believe it’s quite insulting to The Lord when we tell Him to stand aside until He is needed. The Bible is quite clear about who needs Who and that is why “All glory should go to Jesus Christ” and to no one else. All glory goes to Him who saved us, that’s why HE HAS TO DO ALL THE WORK. Everyone else who try to ‘help God’ end up in disappointment because their pride to their own work and effort chokes out God’s grace.
It’s to the simple and humble people like David to whom God rests His power on.
In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul is saying that God loves people who depend on Him; people who fall on their knees and say “Lord! Help me! I am nothing without You!” If you see yourself as a weak and useless person on your own, then congratulations, God’s power can now flow through you. Check out how God operates both in the New and in the Old. He never chooses a proud man of high stature to do His work. God always picks up the useless, the weak, even the scum and the trivial and turns them into kings and champions. If we boast, we be honest and boast of our weaknesses. When we boast of our success, let us never forget who brought it upon us so that all glory goes to Jesus Christ, for it is His grace that made everything possible. "Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.” –Luke 13:30
